I love grapefruit! Ruby Red Grapefruit to be exact, and not cut in half and sectioned with a knife then eaten with a spoon. No, I have a ritual when I eat my juicy fruit. I have to peel the thick skin with the help of a tablespoon, then I peel the pith next. I then section off a piece and gently peel the thin membrane to produce all the lovely, delicate flesh. I love each little pod of juice, so delicious! I love it when I can successfully peel a complete section.

We had a fabulous visit with Stephanie and Griffin as you can tell by the photos.

My RockStar!
Teagan loves pretending to sing to her mic, which is dad's arm to the tripod. We were watching youtube music videos and singing along loudly. I think she will be on the stage sometime in the future.

TaDaa!!

We learned out lesson, don't feed Teagan too many timbits right before bed or she goes crazy and we can't put on her jamjams.

Love this photo of John, I was just having fun with the new 50mm lens.

26/365

I was chatting with my friend and photographer extraordinaire about lenses and that I want a macro lens. She told me of the cool trick to try out. Take off your lens and hold it backwards onto your camera, you won't be able to focus automatically but move the camera until you are in focus. I was using my 50mm lens and this is what happened. I wouldn't be able to get this close using the lens the manufactured way. Awesome.
The second photo is of Teagan's piggy bank.

I love grapes especially when on sale and cold from the fridge.

I went out with the girls tonight for a much needed movie after being stuck in the house all week with sickness. While away my lovely brother phoned and I misssed his call. I know I just saw him at new years but I miss him. I wish we lived closer. Love you Doug!

Girl day at the hair salon. Grandma, mom and Teagan all got our hair beautified. This was midcut for TT, when all done her curls are out of this world cute.

Another day of playdoh. Here is a photo of Teagan with a squashed "Quack" a character from her favorite show. She was making quack soup, she said.

Saturday 21 January 2012

21/365

Being a mom is not a glamourous job. I will forever find playdoh in every nook and cranny of my home, I will always be a human kleenex for snot, tears and boogers. I know my child will be better dressed than myself and that I will spend more time on their hair. But I wouldn't change it for anything. Being a mom is the best job for me. I thrive for the little hugs, the stickers on my face, little giggles and I get to play with bright pink playdoh that looks like gum, but doesn't taste like it.

When John was about twelve, him and his stepfather would tap this barometer to see the change in the weather pressure. John recieved this exact barometer a few years ago and still does it faithfully. Now it is a tradition for him and Teagan. pretty cool

19/365 sick day

I guess it was my day to be sick. Teagan spent the day at Grandma's while I suffered in bed. Teagan had her bath and into her jamjams and I finally come out and made my leftover taco salad, which Teagan chomped on til her bottle was made. She loves salad.

Pranksters hit again last night at the Goldstream fountain.

The snowy Lagoon.

Sorry dear followers, I know I am a day late but our household was hit by the plague. Poor John was out of commission all day and probably not going to be back to normal for a few days. Little TT wasn't herself either, this shot is of TT having quiet time watching "Peep" while lying on her sleeping dad.

While working with dad today in Oak Bay constructing a gorgeous cabinet, amongst dad running around and the "biggness" of the unit, I found this little shrine. A buddha bowl, some finger bells and a gorgeous red pillow. The calmness of it reminded me to breathe and enjoy the day with my dad.

Yes, Teagan still has a bottle before she goes to bed at night. We will be stopping it soon, am I not wanting to get rid of it because of my comfort. Probably, I love sitting with her at the end of the night and reflect on the day while she is enjoying her warm milk.

While trying to rush out to go to meet our friends, Teagan decided to organize all her shoes.  She dumped them out of the basket, then proceeded to get in herself and one by one she filled the basket.
Having a child has taught me patience, to take deep breaths and to wash off washable markers as soon as possible.

Sunday 8 January 2012

For a winter that is supposed to have extreme weather, Teagan and I were outside this afternoon enjoying the crisp, fresh air.  Teagan loves to precisely place gravel on the mossy rock fence in the front shade garden.  I remember playing on this exact fence when I was young.  There were perfectly placed rocks and I pretended they were my horse.

Saturday 7 January 2012

Colwood Creek Estate with our starbucks and camera in hand.  While at the playground we meet a family with two girls.  One girl was Teagan's age and she could have been her identical twin.  Curly blonde hair, gorgeous eyes and cute smile.  Still not as cute as Teagan but adorable.  I wanted to take a picture but thought I better not as I am a stranger to her.
I had a hard time picking the photo out of todays images.  John and I picked this one because of the composition of it.  I love the horizontal lines of the grass and then the bright yellow vertical lines of the swing chains.  Brings your eye to Teagan.

Paperwork, paperwork and more paperwork.
Johnny just got home from a week in Vancouver on course and I am doing charts, not the most romantic greeting.

5/365 Rain, rain go away

My shadow in a rainy puddle.
The last few days hasn't stopped raining.  I guess this is the Wet Coast.

Lunch at the Lagoon

even though it is a dark, rainy day I needed to get to the Lagoon for my peace and sanity.

Practice napping!
Since the new year (2 days) we have not been giving Teagan her bottle before naptime.  Well she proceeded to run around not wanting to sleep but pretending to nap uncomfortably on dad's chair.  We were successfull, lets just hope she wakes up with dry panties.

Sunday 1 January 2012

1/365

The beginning of a new year and a new adventure.  I decided to try my hand at a 365 project to capture a daily picture of 2012 and share it with my loved ones.  I also want to impove my photography skills and to do this I have to take more photos.  What better way to get me out to accomplish this.

2012 is going to be a year of adventure, more time with friends and enjoy the outdoors.  I have choosen one word to live by this year, "FRESH".  This little word could mean many different things depending on the day.
A fresh new approach
Fresh veggies
Fresh, cold morning sunsets
Fresh laundry
A fresh way of thinking.

I hope this year will be as comforting as the last but bring on some new adventures.
This photo is on the way back from the Esquimalt lagoon, stopped on the side of the road trying to get Teagan to go potty.  We purchased a new lens and couldn't wait to try it out.  Fresh new lens!
